Guidelines for Manuscript Submissions

The International Journal of Pharmaceutical Research and Medical Sciences (IJPRMS) is a fortnightly, peer-reviewed, open-access international journal dedicated to the rapid publication of high-quality research in the fields of pharmaceutical sciences and medical research, pharmacology, biomedical sciences, drug development, drug discovery, and life sciences. The journal publishes original research articles, review articles, mini-reviews, short communications, research notes, case reports, and case studies covering a broad range of disciplines, including them.

All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial editorial assessment followed by a peer review process. Manuscripts are considered for publication based on their scientific quality, originality, methodological rigour, validity of data, reproducibility, ethical compliance, and relevance to the journal's readership. The journal accepts manuscripts on the condition that they have not been published previously and are not under consideration for publication elsewhere. “The manuscript must be free from plagiarism and must not contain fabricated, falsified, or AI-generated data or images presented as original research.”

Aim Of The Journal

The aim of IJPRMS is to provide a comprehensive international platform for the dissemination of high-quality scientific research and to promote advances in environmental, pharmaceutical, biomedical, agricultural, and life sciences across a broad spectrum of scientific disciplines.

Authorship

All individuals listed as authors must have made a substantial contribution to the research and must have approved the final version of the manuscript.

  • All authors must agree to:
  • The final version of the manuscript.
  • The order and presentation of authors' names.
  • The designation of the corresponding author.
  • The content and scientific integrity of the manuscript.

The corresponding author is responsible for communication with the journal throughout the editorial, peer-review, and publication processes and should ensure that all authors are appropriately informed.

Any change in authorship after submission – including addition, deletion, or change in the order of authors – must be justified and supported by written consent from all authors concerned.

Ethical Considerations And Compliance With Ethical Standards

IJPRMS follows strict standards of publication ethics and research integrity. Authors are responsible for ensuring that their manuscripts comply with applicable ethical, legal, and institutional requirements.

Authors must ensure that all text, data, figures, tables, photographs, and other materials presented in the manuscript are original or appropriately cited and used with the necessary permissions.

Where copyrighted or previously published material is reproduced, appropriate permission and citation must be provided.

Conflict of Interest

  • Ethics Approval for Human and Animal Research

Human Subject Research

Research involving human participants must receive approval from the appropriate Institutional Ethics Committee (IEC), Institutional Review Board (IRB), or relevant national/regulatory ethics committee, as applicable.

  • The manuscript should clearly state:
  • The name of the approving ethics committee or institutional body.
  • The ethics approval/reference number, where applicable.
  • That the research was conducted in accordance with applicable ethical standards.
  • That informed consent was obtained from participants where required.
  • The privacy, confidentiality, and rights of human participants must be protected at all times.

Animal Research

Studies involving experimental animals must comply with applicable international, national (CCSEA), and institutional guidelines (Institutional Animal Ethics Committee (IAEC)) for the care and use of laboratory animals.

  • The manuscript should provide:
  • The name of the approving ethics committee.
  • The relevant approval/reference number, where applicable.
  • Details of applicable animal welfare guidelines.
  • Appropriate information regarding animal housing and experimental procedures.
  • Details of anaesthesia, analgesia, euthanasia, and humane endpoints, where applicable.

Experimental procedures should be designed to minimise pain, distress, and unnecessary use of animals.

Plagiarism Prevention Policy

IJPRMS is committed to maintaining the integrity of the scholarly record and promoting responsible research and publication practices. Submitted manuscripts may be screened using plagiarism-detection software, such as Turnitin or other appropriate similarity-detection systems. Manuscripts identified as containing plagiarism, duplicate publication, fabricated material, or other forms of publication misconduct may be rejected or subjected to further investigation and appropriate editorial action.

Publication Timeline

IJPRMS aims to provide an efficient editorial and peer-review process. The journal endeavours to publish accepted articles within approximately one month, subject to the completion of peer review, revisions, editorial decisions, production, and author proof correction. Publication timelines may vary depending on the complexity of the manuscript and the peer-review process.

Manuscript Submission

Manuscripts should be submitted in English through the journal's designated online submission system or official editorial communication channel. A cover letter should accompany the manuscript and should be submitted by the corresponding author.

Online Submission And Manuscript Identification

The editorial office aims to provide a manuscript identification number within approximately 3-7 working days after successful submission, subject to initial editorial screening and verification of submission details.

Peer-Review Process

IJPRMS follows a blind peer-review process, wherever applicable. Submitted manuscripts undergo an initial editorial assessment to determine their suitability for the journal. Manuscripts considered appropriate for further evaluation are sent to qualified reviewers with relevant subject expertise. The final editorial decision may include:

  • Minor Revision
  • Major Revision
  • Reject

The journal reserves the right to reject manuscripts that fall outside its scope or fail to meet required standards of scientific quality, ethical compliance, originality, or methodological rigour.

Preparation Of Manuscripts

Manuscripts should be prepared in clear, concise, and scientifically appropriate English using a standard word-processing program. Unless otherwise specified by the journal, manuscripts should be formatted with:

  • Consistent font and heading styles
  • Appropriate margins
  • Continuous page numbering
  • Line numbering, where applicable
  • Clearly identified tables and figures
  • Standard scientific terminology and SI units
  • Authors should ensure that the manuscript is carefully proofread before submission.

Reporting Guidelines

  • Authors are encouraged to follow appropriate reporting guidelines, including:
  • CONSORT – Randomised controlled trials
  • PRISMA - Systematic reviews and meta-analyses
  • STROBE - Observational studies
  • CARE - Case reports
  • ARRIVE - Animal research
  • STARD - Diagnostic accuracy studies

Title Page

  • The title should be concise, specific, informative, and representative of the study.
  • The title page should include:
  • Full title of the manuscript
  • Full names of all authors
  • Institutional affiliations
  • Department and institution
  • City, country
  • Corresponding author's mailing address
  • Corresponding author's email address
  • ORCID ID, where available
  • Short running title of not more than 40 characters

The institutional affiliation should indicate the organization where the research was primarily conducted.

Abstract

The abstract should be written in clear and concise scientific English and should generally not exceed 250-300 words.

The abstract should accurately reflect the study and should not contain information that is not presented in the main manuscript.

Keywords: A maximum of 6 keywords should be provided immediately below the abstract. Keywords should be specific and relevant to the manuscript.

Introduction

  • The introduction should:
  • Provide the scientific background and rationale for the study.
  • Briefly summaries relevant previous research.
  • Identify the research gap or problem.
  • Clearly state the objectives or hypotheses of the study.

The introduction should be concise and focused and should avoid an unnecessary or extensive literature review.

Materials And Methods

The Materials and Methods section should provide sufficient detail to enable other researchers to understand, reproduce, and validate the study.

  • Authors should describe:
  • Study design
  • Study setting and duration
  • Experimental materials
  • Participants or experimental animals, where applicable
  • Inclusion and exclusion criteria, where applicable
  • Sampling procedures
  • Experimental protocols
  • Chemicals and reagents
  • Equipment and instruments
  • Manufacturer details where scientifically relevant
  • Statistical methods
  • Ethical approval and consent, where applicable

Previously published methods may be described briefly with appropriate references. Any significant modifications to established methods should be clearly stated.

Statistical Analysis

  • Statistical methods must be appropriate for the study design and type of data.
  • Authors should report:
  • Number of observations/sample size (n)
  • Mean and appropriate measures of variability, such as SD or SEM
  • Statistical tests used
  • Assumptions or conditions relevant to the statistical test, where appropriate
  • Level of statistical significance
  • Exact or appropriate p-values, where applicable
  • Software used for statistical analysis, including version where relevant

Where multiple statistical tests are used, authors should clearly specify which tests were applied to which variables or groups.

Results

  • The Results section should present the findings clearly and logically.
  • Results should be supported by appropriate:
  • Tables
  • Figures
  • Statistical analyses
  • Effect estimates or confidence intervals, where appropriate

Data presented in tables and figures should not be unnecessarily repeated in the text. The text should emphasize the major findings and their scientific relevance.

Discussion

  • The discussion should interpret the major findings in relation to:
  • The objectives of the study
  • Previous scientific literature
  • Biological or clinical relevance
  • Possible mechanisms
  • Strengths and limitations of the study
  • Implications for future research
  • The discussion should not simply repeat the results.

Conclusion

The conclusion should provide a concise statement of the principal findings and their implications. Conclusions should be supported by the data presented in the manuscript and should avoid unsupported claims or excessive generalization.

Review Articles

Review articles should provide a comprehensive and critical assessment of the relevant literature. Systematic reviews and meta-analyses should follow appropriate reporting standards such as PRISMA, where applicable, and should describe the search strategy, databases, eligibility criteria and study-selection process.

Tables

  • Tables should be:
  • Numbered consecutively.
  • Provided with concise and informative titles.
  • Referred to in the text in numerical order.
  • Self-explanatory wherever possible.
  • Presented using consistent formatting.

Tables should not duplicate information already presented in figures or extensively discussed in the text.

Statistical significance indicators, abbreviations, and footnotes should be clearly explained below the table.

Figures

Figures should be of sufficient quality for publication and should be prepared in an appropriate electronic format. Where applicable, figures should preferably be supplied at a resolution of at least 600 dpi for line art and an appropriate resolution for photographs and other raster images.

  • Figures should:
  • Be numbered consecutively.
  • Be cited in the manuscript.
  • Have clear labels and legends.
  • Be scientifically accurate.
  • Be legible after publication.

The preferred maximum figure size is approximately 18 x 15 cm, unless otherwise agreed with the editorial office.

Figure Captions

Figure captions should be concise but sufficiently detailed to allow the figure to be understood independently of the main text.

Photographs

Photographs submitted for publication should be of high quality and sufficient resolution for reproduction.

  • Authors should ensure that:
  • Images are clear and appropriately exposed.
  • Identifying information is removed unless essential and consent has been obtained.
  • Patient photographs are accompanied by appropriate consent where applicable.
  • Image manipulation does not misrepresent the original findings.

Digital photographs should preferably be submitted in a high-resolution JPEG, TIFF, or other journal-accepted format.

Equations And Units

Mathematical equations should be prepared using an appropriate equation editor or equivalent software. Scientific notation and mathematical symbols should be clear and suitable for a multidisciplinary readership. Authors should use SI units wherever applicable and maintain consistency throughout the manuscript. Numerical data should be reported with an appropriate number of decimal places based on the precision of the measurement and statistical analysis.

All quantitative data should be accompanied by appropriate statistical analysis where applicable. Manuscripts that do not meet essential formatting, ethical, or scientific requirements may be returned to authors for correction before further processing.

Declarations

The following declarations should be included immediately before the References section, where applicable.

Acknowledgements

Authors should acknowledge individuals, institutions, technical personnel, or other contributors who provided significant assistance but do not qualify for authorship.

  • Financial support should be acknowledged separately under the Funding section.

Conflict of Interest

All authors must declare any financial, commercial, academic, institutional, personal, or professional relationships that could influence or be perceived to influence the research.

  • If no conflict exists, authors may state:
  • "The authors declare that they have no conflict of interest."

Author Contributions

  • The specific contributions of each author should be clearly stated.
  • For example:

Funding

  • All sources of financial support should be disclosed.
  • Authors should provide the funding organisation and grant/project number, where applicable.
  • If no specific funding was received, the authors may state:
  • "The authors received no specific funding for this study."

Ethics Statement

For studies involving human participants, animals, or human biological materials, the manuscript must provide the name of the relevant ethics committee or institutional review body and the approval/reference number, where applicable.

Data Availability Statement

Authors should provide a statement describing the availability of data underlying the findings.

  • Where datasets are deposited in a public repository, authors should provide:
  • Repository name
  • Dataset/accession number
  • DOI or persistent identifier, where available

Where data cannot be publicly shared because of ethical, privacy, legal, or other restrictions, the authors should clearly state the reason and describe how qualified researchers may request access, where appropriate.

References

References should be cited in the manuscript using consecutive numerical citations in square brackets and listed in the same numerical order at the end of the manuscript. Authors should ensure that every reference cited in the text appears in the reference list and that every reference in the reference list is cited in the text. References should be accurate, complete, and preferably based on primary scientific literature. I strongly recommend using a Vancouver/NLM reference style aligned with ICMJE recommendations. This is one of the safest and most recognisable formats for a biomedical/pharmaceutical journal.

Article Publication Charges

The Article Processing Charge (APC) covers the costs associated with manuscript processing, editorial and production services, DOI registration, online hosting, and other publication-related services. The applicable publication processing charges are payable by the authors only after the manuscript has been accepted for publication.

Title Page

  • The title page should include:

Abstract

An abstract should be clear, concise, and preferably structured for original research articles.

  • The abstract should generally not exceed 250 words.

Keywords

  • Provide 3-7 relevant keywords immediately below the abstract.
  • Keywords should accurately reflect the major concepts and subject areas of the manuscript.

Main Manuscript

Ensure that the manuscript follows the journal's prescribed structure and formatting requirements.

  • Verify that all tables and figures are appropriately numbered and cited in the text.
  • Ensure that statistical methods are adequately described.
  • Confirm that ethical approval and informed consent statements are included where applicable.
  • Include the required declarations before the References section.

References

References must follow the citation and reference style specified in the IJPRMS author guidelines.

  • Ensure that all references cited in the text appear in the reference list and vice versa.

Verify the accuracy of author names, journal titles, volume, issue, page numbers, and DOI information.

Article Withdrawal Policy

IJPRMS is committed to maintaining high standards of scientific quality, publication ethics, and editorial integrity. The journal recognizes that, in exceptional circumstances, authors may request withdrawal of a manuscript after submission. However, manuscript withdrawal after peer review or during production can result in considerable expenditure of time and resources by editors, reviewers, editorial staff, and production personnel. Therefore, authors are requested to carefully consider their decision before submitting a manuscript.

Terms And Conditions

Withdrawal within 48 Hours

Authors may request withdrawal of a submitted manuscript within 48 hours of submission without a withdrawal charge, provided that the manuscript has not entered an advanced stage of editorial processing.

  • The withdrawal request should be submitted by the corresponding author.

Withdrawal After Peer Review or During Production

If an author requests withdrawal after completion or substantial progress of peer review, during the production stage, during early-release/ahead-of-publication processing, or after online publication, the journal may impose a withdrawal charge.

  • The corresponding author must provide a valid reason for the withdrawal request.

Extended Review Period

If a manuscript has remained under review for more than six months without acceptance or publication, the authors may request withdrawal without a withdrawal charge, subject to verification by the editorial office.

Withdrawal After Publication

  • Once an article has been formally published online, withdrawal is generally not permitted.

If an article is withdrawn after publication under exceptional circumstances, any Article Processing Charges already paid by the authors will not be refunded.

Where necessary, the journal may issue an appropriate editorial notice, correction, expression of concern, or retraction in accordance with publication-ethics principles.

Withdrawal During Advanced Editorial Processing

Withdrawal requests made when peer review is near completion or when substantial editorial and production work has already been undertaken may not normally be accepted unless the authors provide compelling and legitimate reasons.

Journal Indexing or Database Status

Changes in the indexing status of a journal or its inclusion/removal from a particular database are independent of the editorial decision concerning an individual manuscript.

The journal does not guarantee continued inclusion in any external indexing or abstracting database, as such decisions are made by the respective indexing organizations.

  • An article will not be withdrawn solely because the journal's indexing status changes.
